Presidential aspirant Republican Rudy Giuliani says he has “a free market cure” as a solution to the need for better health care coverage in the United States.
The center-piece of Giuliani's plan is tax credits and tax deductions for individuals and their families who purchase private health insurance and health care savings plans. He believes his idea is better than that of employer sponsored health insurance plans.
Of course, the Giuliani proposal presupposes that people have sufficient money that they can afford to buy health care insurance and/or put into health savings plans.
Giuliani has stated "We've got to solve our health care problem with American principles" and he has also stated "You've got to take care of yourself. As more of us do that, the cheaper it will become and the higher in quality it becomes."
Thanks, Rudy; but, no thanks. I've seen what the health insurance industry has done over the years following your logic. The companies have required ridiculously high premiums, co-pays, and deductibles; and, that is in conjunction with an ever-increasing number of uncovered items. Meanwhile, the CEOs and other health insurance company executives and owners have become fat and bloated with profits at astronomical proportions; and, the average citizen goes uninsured or underinsured, impoverished, sick with untreated illnesses, and meeting a premature death.
