Mass Killings in the U.S.A. Guns don't kill people, but they do help people to kill people.

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015, yet once again, there has been a mass killing in the United States of America by gun-toting perpetrators. This time, the deadly shooting took place in San Bernardino, California; it was the worst mass shooting since that of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

On Thursday, December 3, 2015, the United States Senate voted against two gun control proposals that had been introduced by Democrats.

The Senate rejected by a vote of 45 to 54 an amendment introduced by Senator Dianne Feinstein (Democrat, California) that would prohibit the purchase of guns by people on a federal terrorism watch list. Also rejected by a vote of 48 to 50 was an amendment proposed by Senator Joe Manchin (Democrat, West Virginia) and co-sponsored by Senator Patrick Toomey (Republican, Pennsylvania) that would expand criminal background checks for guns purchased at gun shows and through the internet.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (Republican, Texas) stated that Senator Feinstein's amendment was "un-American" and that it would prevent gun purchases by people who were put on the terrorist list in error.

For more complete information regarding this latest shame on American politics, I suggest you read the following articles, links for which are embedded within their respective titles:
An so, while Conservative American politicians and their politically conservative supporters (largely members of the Republican Party for the most part) continue their attempts to dismantle the Affordable Health Act and to eliminate support for health care, education, information, and outreach programs of Planned Parenthood,  the tally of mass shootings in the United States of America continues to add up and up and up!

Hey, guns don't kill people.
Tell that to Gabrielle "Gabby" Giffords and to the dead victims of gun-toting mass killers.
And praise the NRA with its love of guns.

"The BBC has nailed the American gun issue right on the head. Columnist Maike Curry called the number of gun deaths and mass shootings in America “staggering,” pointing out that all of this stems from an amendment to the United States Constitution enacted in 1789.

Adnan Nawatz put a great emphasis on the fact that the 2nd Amendment was designed to allow militias to form to protect a new country from invasion which, if you’re not a right-wing interpreter of the Constitution, is written in ink and hasn’t changed since. Again, watching the disbelief of people outside of our country over just how ignorant the gun culture in America is comes across as embarrassing at the very least.

Host Aaron Hestlehurst had possibly the best bit of advice for America when he said:

IN THE LAST 43 YEARS, MORE AMERICANS HAVE BEEN SHOT BY ANOTHER AMERICAN — SHOT AND KILLED BY ANOTHER AMERICAN — THAN ALL OF AMERICA’S SOLDIERS KILLED IN WARS IN THE LAST 240 YEARS.
AND YOU GO WHERE’S THE PRIORITY? YOU TALK ABOUT CONGRESS — NRA, RIGHT? IF CLINTON REALLY WANTS TO GET SERIOUS, THAT’S WHAT YOU HAVE TO TRY TO BREAK, DISMANTLE.
Those are staggering numbers indeed and an extremely straight forward assessment of the situation from our friends across the pond: If we don’t do something about the gun violence inherent in our culture it will consume us completely one day."

This was half a good post until you linked it to ACA, PP, and the rest. Have not read Feinstein's bill, but if it is as stated, I don't see it being un-American. However, the fact that California has some of the toughest state laws on gun control should tell you that more legislation is simply not enough. Believe it or not, the NRA does support a lot of things I don't support. But after all, they are a lobbying organization and will have an agenda.

But tell me, how does gun control legislation stop the pipe bombs the couple made? Or prevent an Oklahoma City? While some gun laws are helpful, people that think they are the solution, or even a prevention, of these incidents are in self-delusion mode. As I said on my Sunday post, Cain used a rock. So was a lot of Homer's Trojan War. The problem is in the human heart and soul. Until you start working on THAT, the rest are just speedbumps.

CWMartin, people are people; the evil that lurks within has been around since the serpent made its first appearance in the Garden of Eden. And, ever since then, there have been ongoing attempts to address and correct the problem that lies within the human heart and soul. Until those attempts become successful to the point that we can have a true human culture of pure heart and soul, we need the speed bumps.
