Easter. The Last Supper. Jesus was a Jew. Passover. Seder.

Wow! There are so many people who think today is Easter. Boy, are they ever WRONG!!!!

The correct date for Easter this year is May 5, 2013.

I am amazed at how many people think that their belief is the only correct belief, perhaps you may be one of them. On the other hand, others may think their belief is correct and yours is wrong.

Have you ever heard of Computus?
Here, take a look at Computus for the calculation of the 2013 Orthodox Easter.

Oh, you mean to tell me that you think today, March 31, 2013 is the real date for Easter??!!!! Maybe, you should read:
A Tale of Two Easters, Why one faith and two celebrations? by Borgna Brunner.

Jews do not observe Easter. Jews observe Passover. Jews do not have Easter Sunday dinner, Jews have Passover Seder.

Jesus was born a Jew. Jesus lived his life a Jew. Jesus died a Jew.

Some folks assert that there is a connection between Jesus' Last Supper and the Passover Seder.

But, was the Last Supper really the Passover Seder? Well, click and read each of the following and then decide the answer to that question for yourself:

"Baruch Hashem" literally means "Blessed is G-d." But G-d cannot be blessed, for He is Above all, and does not need a mere human's blessings. So when one says this phrase, they really mean to acknowledge that G-d is the Source of all blessings. It is a way of saying "Thank G-d."

It makes sense that the Last Supper was a Seder. The sacrifice of Jesus has its roots in the covenant God made with his people to end their slavery. The NewTestament recounts that Jesus was making plans for Passover with his disciples as the week we call Holy Week was beginning.

I have always held the belief that the Last Supper was a Seder, especially considering the trouble some of the Apostles had in keeping awake in the period after the meal was concluded. There is a substantial amount of wine consumed during a Seder if I recall correctly.

Paul said if you celebrate a day, celebrate it to the Lord; if you don't, don't celebrate it to the Lord. Dates are insignificant. Meaning matters. I personally do not care when He was born, when He died, or when He rose- only that he did. Hope you had a great Holiday!

On Sunday, March 31, 2013 at approximately 4:50 p.m. EDT, Jerry Rosen made a comment about this specific Roland Hansen Commentary on my Facebook wall. (Note: I had placed a link to this specific blog entry on my Facebook wall in order for my Facebook contacts to come over here to my Roland Hansen Commentary blog to read this specific blog entry.)
In that Jerry Rosen did not scribe his thoughts about this blog entry as a comment here on my Roland Hansen Commentary blog itself, I have copied and pasted his comments from my Facebook wall and have placed them below along to my own response to him later that same day on that same Facebook wall.

Jerry Rosen -
Roland, I was actually shocked to read through all you had to say about this today and would like to point out the references you offered, with the exception of the information about the two calendars and differences between those Christians who follow traditional customs vs. Orthodox Christianity, are based upon OPINION and SPECULATION because nobody living today was alive two thousand years ago. We have no hard factual data today to rely upon, only the writings from bibles and their interpretations which may or may not be accurate. The Old Testament and the New Testament don’t present FACTS, just theory and every religion hopes some folks will “believe” - yet you have presented information as a learned scholar as though YOU know the truth about a specific religion when in fact, nothing you have presented can be proven without room for doubt. I am disappointed you posted this today.

Roland Hansen -
WOW, Jerry!!!! I am totally shocked and dismayed at your misunderstanding of me, of my intentions, and of my writing. First off, as it relates to the opening section of my blog entry, it appears that perhaps you do not have a full understanding of the use of sarcasm and satire or if you do, you have misconstrued my use of those two. Secondly, I never professed or asserted any of the writings to which I linked were anything other than opinion pieces; as a matter of fact all I really did was to link to them with a prefacing remark of "Some folks assert that there is a connection between Jesus' Last Supper and the Passover Seder. But, was the Last Supper really the Passover Seder? Well, click and read each of the following and then decide the answer to that question for yourself:" Indeed, several links gave differing opinions from different peopel. Additionally, I have to wonder whether you read completely every single embedded link I made throughout the entire blog entry. And, where the H did I ever claim to "have presented information as a learned scholar" or that I "know the truth about a specific religion" or any of the other misguided allegations you have asserted about me, my intentions, or my writing??? I AM VERY. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU, Jerry Rosen for having rushed to judgement. Perhaps you might try to re-read what I wrote along with each and every word of the embedded links and do so this time without tunnel vision.
I add one thing - the entire thrust of what I wrote and those things to which I linked was to demonstrate the lack of objective, verifiable facts and that different people have different beliefs and perspectives AND YET many people believe their position is the only correct position and the belies and perspectives of others are incorrect.
