Hypocritical "American Patriots" Dictate Beliefs in The Pledge of Allegiance. It's Their Way or The Highway!

I received the following to my personal  e-mail account:

If you read this and agree that "under God" should be left in the pledge, then just forward it to others and you have voted for it to be left in. If you delete it and don't forward it you are voting no to "under God". Easy huh! Have a great day.

This is not sent for discussion. If you agree, forward it... If you don't, delete it.
I don't want to know one way or the other. By me forwarding it, you know
how I feel.

Do you believe that the word God should stay in American culture?
NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this:
86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance14% against
That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreedor delete if I didn't ..
Now it is your turn. It is said that 86% of Americans believe the word God should stay.......
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having 'In God We Trust' on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Please note that the sender of the e-mail said that if I agreed that I should forward it. Furthermore, according to the e-mail, its message is not subject to debate and if I disagreed with it I should just delete it. The sender(s) have a lot of chutzpah! Who the heck do these people think they are that they can SEND THIS TO MY PERSONAL E-MAIL ACCOUNT  AND THEN TELL ME such a thing. That takes the cake! What unmitigated gall! Send an e-mail  to my personal e-mail account and then try to dictate my response.
Bullfeathers!
Well, I responded with an e-mail back to sender with this reply, “I respectfully disagree. Now, by my reply, you know how I feel.”

Politicians: Before And After Being Elected. What do you think?

Okay, once again, Facebook has served as a stimulus for controversial dialog and another frustrating failed attempt at "intelligent" exchange.

This time it was about people stereotyping politicians and lumping all politicians into one big basket of negativity. What I really found interesting in this Facebook exchange was that a woman by the name of Lucy Tisdale (Lucy Bland) [you can view her Facebook page in the preceding embedded link IF you have a Facebook account AND are logged in to it]  rips into me and belittles me for taking exception with the negative stereotyping of politicians while she proudly proclaims, "I'm in the legal field, and have been for several years, diligently serving my diverse community. ...  As a woman, I will continue to do great works for those who seek help ... I work for a non-profit organization, volunteer with the Toledo Bar Association to assist ex-offenders with criminal expungements, deliver meals to homebound and elderly, all about equality, and help families with at-risk juveniles...all different cases and people of different shades, genders, religions, marital status, and political views ... I'm too smart, and ... I don't rehearse or defend honesty."

If you have a Facebook account, or even if you do not have a Facebook account, you might actually be able to view, and maybe even comment on, that exchange, by clicking onto this embedded link. Regardless, if you do not have a Facebook account or in the event that the message thread gets removed or edited, I am also providing a copy and paste of the entire Facebook dialog (as it exists as of the writing of this blog entry) below for your amusement, entertainment, chagrin, or whatever you get out of it. Here it is:

Having been a politician myself, I cannot help but think that spreading this type of thing is what makes it difficult for good, honest people to seek elective office. In spreading this meme and the message it postulates is the same as belittling me as an individual who has served a large portion of my adult life. When thoughtless and unappreciative people spread this sh**, I wonder why I ever served the community.

And "most" Jews, and "most" gays, and "most" women, and "most" Hispanics, and "most" blue collar workers, and "most" gun owners, and "most" Democrats, and "most" Republicans, and "most" Muslims, and "most" whatever (fill in the blank) ---- This is how prejudice, discrimination, animosity, hatred, and violence is spread, advanced, and continues to exist.
It is far better to attempt at improving things, situations, causes, issues, and people; but, that is not as easy as just slamming and belittling others, issues, situations, etc.
I do not just talk the talk; I have walked the walk. I have been there.

A good, honest, and caring person wouldn't worry about a meme being passed around, but rather, keep doing good works, regardless. You don't have to rehearse or defend honesty.

Hey, Lucy Tisdale: A good, honest, caring person would not stereotype others and speak ill of an entire classification of people based on politics, race, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, gender, marital status, income level, etc. You need to look in a mirror. Apparently you believe that persons who are labeled and discriminated against should remain silent and allow themselves and others to be bullied. You don't have to defend prejudice and discrimination, Lucy; it is indefensible.

BTW, Lucy, I notice that you deleted your previous comment that was automatically sent to my e-mail before you removed it. You know -- the one in which you wrote "Oh, Whatever. If you one meme makes you look bad, then you're not right for the people in the first place. That"

Lucy Tisdale
Lol, I don't care what you received in your e-mail. I write, edit, and delete all the time, politician. In any sense, I'm in the legal field, and have been for several years, diligently serving my diverse community. Nonetheless, if someone like Daryl was to seek my help (which he has through messages), and which I also do voluntarily, I give it. Now, if I was running for mayor of Toledo, and saw this meme, would I get defensive? No, because I know that I helped Daryl, and many others that required my assistance. In other words, if this meme doesn't apply to you, why are you throwing a grown man's temper tantrum? As a woman, I will continue to do great works for those who seek help, have faith in me, and cannot be easily persuaded to go against me for a virtual meme...Again, difference of opinions. My passion lies with people, not with memes.

Oh, and by the way, I work for a non-profit organization, volunteer with the Toledo Bar Association to assist ex-offenders with criminal expungements, deliver meals to homebound and elderly, all about equality, and help families with at-risk juveniles...all different cases and people of different shades, genders, religions, marital status, and political views...so, tell me again about myself...Reverse psychology never works on me. I'm too smart, and again, I don't rehearse or defend honesty. Good day, sweet pea. *hopefully all of it makes it to your e-mail*

Lucy Tisdale: It is nice that you work in the legal field. It is nice that you help my brother, Daryl, and other people, and that you do so voluntarily and with so many causes. It is nice that you self-disclosed your "credentials" along with more information about yourself.
What is not so nice is that you paint poiticians with one broad brushstroke and that you pre-judge others, including me, without knowing those persons and without gathering all the facts first.
While you tout your own professional, civic, community, and charitable background, it appears to me that you did not look at the link I had previously placed in this message thread that provided information on my background - OR, you chose to dispel the information I provided in that self-discloslosure as not germane.
You assert that if the meme does not apply to me that I am throwing a grown man's temper tantrum, basically because I take exception to its message. It would then be logical for me to infer you would feel the same way if I took exceptiontion to the same meme if it were about females before they were adults and after they became adults.
I like the following English translation quote of Friedrich Gustav Emil Martin Niemöller:
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
BTW, Lucy Tisdale, unlike your proclamation of yourself, I do not feel I am too smart. Nor, as you seem to infer, do I "rehearse or defend honesty." Additionally, I do not call people little childish names as did you when you stated to me, "Good day, sweet pea."
Enjoy your day, Lucy Tisdale. And, keep on helping others; that is an admirable attribute.

It is now 5 days after Lucy Tisdale made the last comment in that message thread. No further comments have been up through this point in time.

FYI, the following information is what I could read on the Facebook "About" page of Lucy Tisdale. (Side note: I find it interesting that she has listed my brother, Daryl, as her brother. Uh, EXCUSE ME, but I think I would know if she were the sister to MY BROTHER -- HE IS NOT HER BROTHER AND SHE IS NOT HIS SISTER!):

So, here we have it. A person who is an alleged champion of fighting social injustice, an avowed advocate of legal rights, a self-described advocate of the downtrodden such as Lucy Tisdale (Lucy Bland) slams an entire class of people as a whole, i.e. politicians who are the elected officials of our government.

Lucy Tisdale, who professes "A good, honest, and caring person wouldn't worry about a meme being passed around ... You don't have to rehearse or defend honesty" and accuses me of "throwing a grown man's temper tantrum" because I speak out against prejudice, against discrimination, and against the widespread malice of innuendo directed at our elected officials and those who give of themselves to be of public service, would have us all believe that politicians are all a bunch of evil gremlins and that those of us who take exception to that stereotype are being defensive, throw temper tantrums, and are not good, honest, and caring persons.

Yes, Lucy and so many others like her paint those of whom they dislike with one broad brushstroke while at the same time bemoaning others who may do likewise to a group of people for whom they advocate.

And what of this group that originally posted the afore-mentioned meme placing politicians in a negative light. You know -- the organization that calls itself Our Time. Well, it turns out that Our Time is itself a political organization. In fact, Our Time describes itself as follows, "A nationwide non-profit organization that leverages online organizing, new media, and popular culture to enhance the political voice of young Americans.  Each day, we break down news and need-to-know policy into quick memes, short videos, and key bullet points.  We also lead campaigns that register voters, remove ballot barriers, and fight for economic opportunity."

Here is an embedded link to the Facebook page of Our Time. And, over thisaway, you can read a bit more about Our Time.

So, here we have an organization (Our Time) that wants to influence politicians all the while it denounces and belittles those very same politicians. Hypocrisy?

Okay. Your turn.

I am so misunderstood! Do you understand me, now?

It is so frustrating to keep hearing and reading from other people what it is that I really mean rather than what it is that I actually said when I have said something or what it is that I really mean rather than what it is that I actually wrote when I have written something.

Gosh darn it! Why the heck do people think they know better than I do in regards to what is in my mind and what are my thoughts???!!!

For goodness sake! If I am thinking what someone else says I am thinking, I would think I would know that. Why, oh why, do people want to twist whatever it is I say or write in order to belittle me or to personally attack me? I believe the answer to that question lies in the possibility that the other person is insecure in himself or herself and/or that those people make themslves feel better psychologically by bismirching me. These type of people have an intrinsic need to make others look less than what they are in order to feel good about themselves.

My intentions are good; but, I am so often misunderstood.

Baby, do you understand me now
Sometimes I feel a little mad
But don't you know that no one alive
Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that all I have do is worry
Then you're bound to see my other side
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
If I seem edgy I want you to know
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has it's problems and I get my share
And that's one thing I never meant to do
Because I love you
Oh, Oh baby don't you know I'm human
Have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself long regretting
Some foolish thing some little simple thing I've done
But I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

The American Family: Its Status and State of Affairs

A friend and neighbor of mine in Toledo, Ohio recently posted an interesting message as a 'status update' on her Facebook wall. Her commentary was in regards to what I refer to as "The American Family" which is a subject of interest of mine.

I have copied what she has written word-for-word and am pasting it below for your enlightenment on one person's view:
"I can't believe this $hit people do to their own children today. They ignore, abuse, kill or neglect them over a man, woman or even drugs. If you didn't want kid(s), keep your damn leg's closed and for the man, wrap it up. You can't be that stupid. You know having sex there is a possibility of getting pregnant. People are so ignorant. All these people wishing they could have children and can't and so many of my so called friends and even family don't even take care of their own damn kids. Grand-parent's are raising so many of their grand-kids today. It's so sad. Ignorant people need to wake up and have your $hit taken out or snipped so you can't produce anymore. Your a waste of breath to your own children. Your there when you wanna be or to collect that money because of another parent who has passed or the child has a disability. Sad, Sad Sad.............I should just blast names but they know who they are....They are a sad case.............Sorry just had to vent after seeing, hearing and getting phone calls about some of these sad @ss friends and family."
The comments that she made and the fact that those comments were placed on the social media of Facebook for all her friends and family who are also on Facebook to read, gave me pause and reminded me of quite a few of my own writings that I have scribed on my two blogs, Roland Hansen Commentary and Roland's Ramblings, over the years.

Below are embedded links to quite a few of my blog entries to which I reference for you to read, if you are interested in the topic of "The American Family" and my thoughts on its status and state of affairs, with a couple other tangential thoughts thrown in for good measure:
Now, on another note, you just might like having a lighter read, and if so, go on over to WHY GOD CREATED CHILDREN, (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN).

Fred LeFebvre of 1370 WSPD AM and Feedom of Speech

I have noticed that Fred LeFebvre of WSPD AM radio station in Toledo, Ohio uses a signature phrase attachment to his posted comments over on the internet site of SwampBubbles where he goes by the user name of FREDERICKTHEENTERTAINER.

The "signature"  attached by Fred LeFebvre is as follows:
"Any statement I make is the opinion of me exercising my first amendment right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and is generally permitted."
Just one example in the use of that signature attachment may be found in the comment made by Fred LeFebvre when he wrote,
"I am ALL FOR citizens united. The story points out that even with citizens united however that corporations don't hold any more sway than unions do which has always been the big crying jag thrown by union members. You haven't really been on the board long enough to know what I think so you might just ask next time. I am all for all types of free speech. And more is spelled m-o-r-e in case you use it again, unless you were trying to spell moron, in which case you don't need help."
that you can see for yourself in the following link to the "NOT THE STORY LINE YOU'VE HEARD" SwampBubbles message thread.

What I find interesting that Fred LeFebvre uses the terminology "freedom of speech" in his signature attachment in a way that seems to me that it infers that the First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the user's speech anywhere and everywhere from being abridged by anyone in anyplace under any and all conditions. The fact of the matter is that the aforementioned inference is nowhere close to the truth. Indeed, the real fact is that the First Amendment to the United States Constitution only protects the free exercise of speech from being abridged by the government of the United States of America.

Freedom of speech in the United States as protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution does not apply to internet social media or to private employers or to newspapers or to anyone or anything that is neither the United States government nor an appendage of the United States government. AND, then, even with the very precise and specific limitation as applied to the government of the United States of America, there are exceptions. I suggest you read the contents of the following embedded link:
"Freedom of Speech"

Oh, as an extra to the main topic of this Roland Hansen Commentary, I am providing you with a couple links to learn about the organization for which Fred LeFebvre proclaims his support when he wrote "I am ALL FOR citizens united." Check these out:
